Biography

Irene A. Otto is a highly respected Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Partner at Murugi, Otto & Wadegu Advocates. With a deep commitment to justice, social impact, and legal excellence, Irene brings a wealth of experience in litigation, legal advisory, and community-based advocacy. Her sharp legal mind and compassionate approach to the law have earned her a solid reputation in the Kenyan legal fraternity. In 2024, she was elected as a Council Member of the Law Society of Kenya, where she contributes to shaping the future of the legal profession nationwide.

Beyond her role at MOW Advocates, Irene is a founding member and Head of Legal at Ajani Center, a nonprofit organization committed to addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Kenya. Through Ajani Center, she offers both legal and psychological support to survivors, championing access to justice and healing for marginalized communities. Her work demonstrates a rare blend of legal rigor and human-centered advocacy.

Irene is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M) at the University of Nairobi, further advancing her expertise in areas of public interest and policy. Her LLM is in Masters of Law, Science and Technology with a bias in Medical Law. She is a proud alumna of Kenyatta University School of Law, where she cultivated the values of leadership, resilience, and service that continue to define her legal career.
